" In a world that's constantly rushing, we offer a step back —which is, at the same time, a step forward. At SLO-TEK, we embrace the role of seekers rather than providers of perfected solutions—navigating a careful, inquisitive path towards a design practice grounded in authenticity, social consciousness, and environmental humility, embodied through principles of SLOW, LOCAL, and LOW-TECH."

Our vision

Our vision

Design rooted in care, place, and community—shaping spaces, products, and ideas with lasting impact.

SLO-TEK is founded on the belief that meaningful design is rooted in patience, place, and care. As architects and designers, we are more than service providers; we are active partners in cultivating vibrant communities and resilient environments across India and beyond.

Our venture is divided into four sections:
slo-tek the core of our studio where we offer design projects like architecture and interior design services, slo-lab an experimental lab for research, prototyping, and knowledge sharing, slo-made, a curated range of products created in limited editions, echoing our “slow” values and slo-notes, our living archive and storytelling hub.

We see the impact of climate change everywhere: declining livability in cities, lost traditions in rural landscapes, and communities left out of the development process. Too often, profit-driven, short-term solutions ignore local wisdom, harm the environment, and erode the quality of everyday life. We believe there’s a better way—one that doesn’t mean reverting to the past, but learning from it. By reviving regional and traditional knowledge, embracing sustainability, and nurturing meaningful interaction between people and place, we aim to design and build to foster true well-being, not just for individuals, but for communities and the environment.

Low-Tech

Low-tech affirms the intelligence of accessible know-how—tools, techniques, and systems which invite adaptation and participation rather than obsolescence, preserving resilience within reach of those who make and inhabit.

Local

Local is the commitment to root-making in the specificity of place—cultivating relationships with people, materials, and narratives that already exist, and refusing the abstraction of culture or the flattening of economies.

Slow

Slow is the courage to inhabit process—questioning, probing, and allowing time for context, climate, and community to speak before we draw or build. This is not inertia but discernment, insisting that care and attentiveness must precede action.

We seek to

...Rethink value chains to prioritize local economies and traditional skills.

...Foster participation and ownership within communities.

...Create spaces and products that are enduring, purposeful, and easily integrated with natural cycles

...Make design knowledge accessible and open-source.

...Encourage a pace of life that values joy, longevity, and connection over instant gratification

Our story

We are on a mission to create mindful spaces and products at a slower, human pace—local, low-tech, and purposeful. At SLOTEK, Dipayan’s passion for sustainable, community-rooted architecture meets Anne’s love for interiors, art, and craft, united by the belief that design can make a difference, and grateful to share this journey with you.

The big move

Anne longed for life abroad, inspired by diverse cultures, while Dipayan, after seven years in Germany, felt called back to India to pursue sustainable, socially driven design. United by his vision and her passion for Indian arts and crafts, we moved east in 2023 to begin building something new together.

On the road

Whenever time allowed, we set out to explore—across Germany, Europe, and North America. Each journey became a living sketchbook, filled with textures, impressions, and fleeting encounters. These travels left us with a trove of ideas and countless sparks of inspiration that continue to shape and enrich our evolving design practice today.

The knock on the door

It began with something ordinary: Anne locked herself out of her apartment and knocked on a neighbor’s door. The conversation quickly turned to art, design, travel—and India. What started as chance dialogue soon evolved into a shared perspective, leading to years of collaboration and a life together in Germany.

How it all started

Stuttgart, 2017. Anne was practicing as a graphic designer while Dipayan pursued architecture and urban planning. They lived in the same building, moved through the same city, yet their paths never crossed. It was a parallel existence—two disciplines, two trajectories—quietly setting the stage for a future collaboration still to come
